Graduate Teaching Assistant – Year 1 – Wimbledon

Are you a graduate looking to gain valuable classroom experience and take your first steps towards a career in education? We are currently looking for an enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Wimbledon, supporting pupils in Year 1.

About the role:

This Graduate Teaching Assistant position is based in a thriving primary school in Wimbledon and is available to start ASAP.

You will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils within Year 1, helping children develop academically, socially and emotionally. The role will involve supporting pupils both individually and in small groups.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the class teacher with the delivery of engaging Year 1 lessons
• Working with pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
• Supporting children with literacy, numeracy and phonics
• Helping pupils with their educational and behavioural development
• Preparing classroom resources and activities
• Providing feedback on pupil progress to the class teacher
• Helping to create a positive and supportive classroom environment

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate who is considering a career in teaching, educational psychology, SEN or another education-based profession.

The ideal candidate:

• A degree in any subject
• A genuine interest in working with children and education
• Enthusiastic, reliable and proactive
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills
• The ability to build positive relationships with young pupils
• Previous experience working with children would be beneficial but is not essential
