Graduate Teaching Assistant – Mitcham

Engage Education is working with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Mitcham that is looking to recruit an enthusiastic Graduate Teaching Assistant to join its team after the October half-term.

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate who wants to develop practical classroom experience, build confidence working with children and make a genuine difference to pupils’ learning and development.

About the role

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside experienced teachers, supporting pupils across the primary curriculum.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting pupils with their learning on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
• Assisting the class teacher with the delivery of engaging lessons.
• Providing additional support to children who need help with literacy, numeracy or classroom activities.
• Supporting pupils with special educational needs and additional learning requirements where needed.
• Encouraging positive behaviour, confidence and independence.
• Helping to create a welcoming, inclusive and stimulating learning environment.

The ideal candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Holds a university degree in any subject.
• Has a genuine interest in education and supporting children’s development.
• Is enthusiastic, patient, reliable and approachable.
• Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Is keen to learn from experienced teaching professionals.
• Can commit to working full-time from the end of October.

Previous classroom experience would be beneficial but is not essential. We welcome applications from graduates considering teacher training or a longer-term career in education.
