Welcome To iday

When you join us for iday, you’re making the choice to begin your new teaching career in the UK. Whether you’re already in the UK or looking to move from overseas, your Engage consultant will arrange everything for you and be on hand to assist you with your CV, references and any other documentation. If you’re interested in joining us for iday, simply register with us and one of our consultants will be in touch right away to discuss your options.

How does iday work for teachers?

iday is the only opportunity to come to the UK for an all-expenses-paid week-long trip where you get to meet and interview with multiple schools. Meeting face-to-face with a school greatly increases your chances of securing a job offer.

By the time you return home with a job offer, you’ll have already had a taste of teaching at your chosen school, taking away the stress of the unknown and leaving you free to prepare your lessons and your new life!

iday week structure

Your trip to London will be jam-packed with interviews and taster days, but we’re with you at every moment to ensure you’re fully prepared and having fun! On Friday, after the iday festivities of the days before, you’ll be invited to a social drinks evening in London so you can let your hair down and celebrate your new job before you return home.

Monday

You’ll be up bright and early to have breakfast and be transported to the iday location with your fellow teachers. Once you arrive, you’ll interview with multiple schools which have been specially selected for you based on your skills and requirements. Your Engage consultant will give you information and tips on each school, so you’ll feel supported and prepared for each meeting.

Lunch and refreshments are provided and each iday is set in a great location where you can relax between interviews and meet other teachers.

Tuesday

The day after iday you will attend a free CPD session about teaching in the UK, including curriculum training and school structure information. After your free lunch, you’ll receive feedback from the schools you’ve interviewed with and be notified of which ones you’ve matched with.

The rest of your afternoon will be spent planning your iday lesson. You’ll receive a step-by-step guide to lesson planning with the help of the Teaching & Learning team, and have a chance to practice your lesson.

Wednesday and Thursday

On Wednesday and/or Thursday, you’ll be delivering your taster lesson in your chosen schools! You’ll be completely prepared for this from the day before, and our team will be on hand to help you with any last-minute questions. After your taster days in the chosen schools, you’ll receive detailed feedback from your consultant.

In the evening, there will be an informal Q&A session to assist you with any questions that have arisen after your in-school experiences.

Why Engage?

Once you’ve secured your new teaching position, you’ll be eligible for all of the great benefits of working with Engage. Our relationship doesn’t end once you have moved to the UK and started teaching. From free CPD sessions and one-on-one training to wellbeing support and social events, we’re with you every step of the way to ensure you succeed in your vocation.
