Teaching Assistant – Bank Staff

08:30am until 15:30pm
I am currently working with a welcoming primary school in the Wetherby area that are seeking Teaching Assistants to support their school on a bank staff basis to help cover with absence. They are looking for someone patient, proactive, and passionate about helping pupils thrive in a supportive learning environment.
About the role
You will be supporting pupils within a classroom environment across various different primary aged groups, but also supporting children on a 1:1 basis that have special educational needs.
The needs of the pupils may include:
- Autism– verbal and non-verbal learners
- Severe learning difficulties (SLD)
- ADHD
We welcome applicants who have experience supporting children or young people with SEND, particularly those with autism or complex learning needs. A positive, calm and nurturing approach is essential.
You will:
- Support pupils with learning, communication, and daily classroom activities
- Build positive relationships that help pupils feel safe, confident and engaged
- Work closely with teachers and other professionals to deliver personalised learning activities
- Encourage independence and celebrate small achievements
- Adapt your approach to meet the individual needs of each pupil
Experience with creative activities, Theatre in Education (TIE), sensory learning, or workshop-based activities with children and young people would be beneficial.
