Caretaker – Primary School in Brighton

Engage Education are currently working with a friendly and well-maintained primary school in Brighton who are looking to appoint a full-time Caretaker to support the day-to-day running of the school site. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone practical, reliable, and proactive who takes pride in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.

About the role
As a Caretaker, you will play a key role in ensuring the school premises are safe, secure, and well-maintained for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Key responsibilities include:

• Opening and closing the school site each day
• Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs
• Ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of the school grounds
• Conducting regular health and safety checks
• Managing site security, including alarms and access
• Supporting with setting up rooms for school activities and events
• Liaising with contractors where required

This is a full-time position, offering stability within a supportive school environment.

About you

• Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, or facilities role
• Practical skills and a hands-on approach
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
