We are recruiting on behalf of a primary school in Wakefield that are looking for a School Support Worker to support children across school with special educational needs such as Autism, Complex Needs, SEMH and ADHD.

The Role:

As an School Support Worker, you will work across different phases of the school depending on need. Your day may involve supporting pupils who exhibit challenging behaviour linked to sensory processing or social understanding, as well as working gently and patiently with learners who require a calmer, more reassuring approach.

Duties include:

Supporting pupils with Autism and complex communication needs
Managing behaviours that can be unpredictable or sensory-driven
Providing a nurturing, structured, and safe environment
Assisting with personal care when required
Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
Adapting your approach to meet individual needs
Encouraging positive engagement and independence

What We’re Looking For:

Lived experience supporting individuals with Autism or complex learning need
Background in support work, care, SEN, or related fields (children or adults)
Confidence in managing challenging behaviour with a calm, consistent approach
A nurturing, patient manner for pupils needing softer support
Willingness to work across age groups 
Reliability, emotional resilience, and a genuine passion for inclusive support

Availability full-time, Monday–Friday
Start Date: Immediate start available as well as September 2026
