Mental Health Support Worker – Chichester

£85–£100 per day | Full-time | Temp-to-perm

We are working in partnership with a specialist all-through school in Chichester to recruit a dedicated Mental Health Support Worker to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with young people who require additional emotional and behavioural support, helping them engage in education and achieve positive outcomes in a safe, nurturing environment.

Due to the school’s location, access to a car is essential.

About the role:

As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 support for pupils with SEMH and additional needs
  • Support students in lessons to improve engagement and focus
  • Use effective behaviour management strategies to support emotional regulation
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SEN teams, and parents
  • Contribute to a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment

This role may involve supporting pupils who can display challenging behaviour, so a calm, patient, and resilient approach is essential. Ongoing support and training will be provided.

The School:

This particular school is a special all-through school for children who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. Many children also have a range of additional needs including Autism, ADHD, Attachment Disorders, Anxiety, and Speech and Language needs.

They offer a bespoke curriculum for every student, with their ethos being based around nurturing, making progress and helping young people feel safe and cared for.

Who we’re looking for:

We welcome applications from candidates who:

  • Have experience working with children or young people with SEND or behavioural needs
  • Have a background in education, youth work, care, or support work (desirable)
  • Are confident using behaviour management strategies
  • Are patient, adaptable, and committed to supporting young people
  • Are able to commit to a full-time, long-term role

This role is particularly well suited to psychology or education graduates looking to gain hands-on experience in a specialist setting.
