Classroom Assistant – Primary School in Leeds
Full time 08:30am until 15:30pm

I am currently working with a welcoming primary school in the Leeds area that is seeking a dedicated Classroom Assistant to support pupils with additional needs. They are looking for someone patient, proactive, and passionate about helping pupils thrive in a supportive learning environment. This is a full time position which is due to start after Easter.

About the role

You will be supporting pupils within a classroom environment, working closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to provide personalised support.

The needs of the pupils may include:

• Autism– verbal and non-verbal learners

• Severe learning difficulties (SLD)

• Complex communication and sensory needs

We welcome applicants who have experience supporting children or young people with SEND, particularly those with autism or complex learning needs. A positive, calm and nurturing approach is essential.

You will:

• Support pupils with learning, communication, and daily classroom activities

• Build positive relationships that help pupils feel safe, confident and engaged

• Work closely with teachers and other professionals to deliver personalised learning activities

• Encourage independence and celebrate small achievements

• Adapt your approach to meet the individual needs of each pupil

Experience with creative activities, Theatre in Education (TIE), sensory learning, or workshop-based activities with children and young people would be beneficial.
