Caretaker – Primary School in Brighton

Engage Education are working with a welcoming and well-maintained primary school in Brighton who are looking to appoint a full-time Caretaker. This is a great opportunity for a reliable and proactive individual to play a key role in maintaining a safe, clean, and secure school environment.

About the role
As a Caretaker, you will be responsible for the day-to-day upkeep and management of the school premises, ensuring everything runs smoothly for staff and pupils.

Key responsibilities include:

• Opening and closing the school site each day
• Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs
• Ensuring the school grounds are clean, tidy, and well presented
• Completing routine health and safety checks
• Managing site security, including alarms and access control
• Supporting with setting up classrooms and spaces for events
• Liaising with contractors and external providers when required

This is a full-time position within a supportive school setting.

About you

• Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, or facilities role
• Practical, hands-on approach with good problem-solving skills
• Strong understanding of health and safety procedures
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
• Good communication skills and a proactive attitude
