Caretaker – Multi-Site Role (Based in Burgess Hill)

Engage Education are working with a group of schools in the Burgess Hill area who are looking to appoint a reliable and flexible Caretaker to support across multiple school sites in Sussex. This is a full-time position and a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety in their role and takes pride in maintaining safe and well-presented environments.

About the role
You will be based at a school in Burgess Hill but will also provide support to other local school sites when required. This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same.

Key responsibilities include:

• Opening and closing school sites, ensuring security at all times
• Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs
• Supporting the upkeep and cleanliness of buildings and grounds
• Completing routine health and safety checks
• Assisting with setting up rooms for school activities and events
• Liaising with contractors and reporting any site issues
• Travelling to support additional school sites when needed

Mileage will be reimbursed for travel from your base school in Burgess Hill to any additional sites.

About you

• Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, or facilities role
• Practical, hands-on skillset with a proactive approach
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures
• Reliable, organised, and able to work independently
• Flexible and willing to travel between sites
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential
