Modern Foreign Languages Teacher Required for Secondary School in Bradford

Are you a qualified Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Teacher with a passion for inspiring students through language learning? Whether you’re an experienced teacher or an ECT, this opportunity could be the ideal next step for you.

We are working with a supportive and welcoming secondary school in the Bradford area, which is seeking a Modern Foreign Languages Teacher to start ASAP. A specialism in French or Spanish is preferred.

About the role

The successful applicant will be joining a dedicated and experienced MFL department within a high-specification secondary school. You will be responsible for delivering engaging and challenging language lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, supporting students of a range of abilities.

You will help students develop their confidence and competence in speaking, listening, reading and writing, while encouraging a genuine appreciation of language and culture.

This is a full-time, long-term role for a qualified teacher who can fully commit to joining a school with a clear vision, strong ethos and high expectations for both staff and students.

About you

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a qualified teacher with a formally recognised teaching qualification; ECTs are welcome to apply
  • Have experience teaching Modern Foreign Languages at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
  • Have a French or Spanish specialism (preferred)
  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and confidence teaching students across a range of abilities
  • Have a genuine passion for languages, education and supporting young people
  • Be able to deliver engaging, well-structured and appropriately differentiated lessons
  • Have strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Be able to build positive and professional relationships with students
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be adaptable, resilient and confident in responding to different classroom situations
  • Be committed to raising student attainment and supporting positive academic progress
  • Work effectively as part of a collaborative MFL department and wider school team
  • Have high expectations of students and promote a positive attitude towards learning
  • Be enthusiastic about contributing to the wider life and ethos of the school

Key skills and qualities

Strong language skills: Excellent knowledge of French and/or Spanish, with the ability to develop students’ confidence across speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Passion for languages: Enthusiasm for MFL and the ability to inspire students to appreciate different languages, cultures and perspectives.

Excellent communication: Able to explain language concepts clearly and communicate effectively with students and colleagues.

Adaptability: Confident in adapting teaching approaches to suit different abilities, needs and classroom environments.

Classroom management: Able to establish clear expectations and create a calm, positive and purposeful learning environment.

Relationship building: Skilled at developing positive relationships with students and encouraging confidence and participation.

Teamwork: Willing to collaborate with colleagues, share good practice and contribute positively to the wider department.

Resilience and professionalism: Positive, dependable and able to respond constructively to challenges.

Commitment to progress: Focused on helping students achieve their potential and committed to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning.
