Geography Teacher Required for Secondary School in Keighley

A supportive and ambitious secondary school in Keighley is currently looking for an enthusiastic and committed Geography Teacher to join its team on a full-time maternity cover basis, starting as soon as possible.

About the role

This is a full-time maternity cover position where you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging Geography lessons across Key Stage 3 and GCSE.

The school is committed to providing a broad and balanced education, with a strong focus on developing pupils academically, socially and personally. Staff are encouraged to create an environment where pupils feel supported, challenged and motivated to achieve their potential.

You will be expected to:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and well-structured Geography lessons
  • Teach Geography across KS3 and GCSE
  • Use a range of teaching strategies to engage pupils with different abilities and learning needs
  • Set high expectations for behaviour, progress and attainment
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting teaching where necessary
  • Develop pupils’ geographical knowledge, understanding and analytical skills
  • Encourage pupils to think critically about geographical issues and the world around them
  • Create a positive, inclusive and purposeful classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Geography department and wider school
  • Contribute to the wider life and ethos of the school
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and support their academic and personal development

You will be joining a supportive and collaborative team of experienced practitioners who share a commitment to providing pupils with the best possible educational experience.

The ideal candidate

The successful candidate will have:

  • QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Extensive experience teaching Geography at KS3 and GCSE
  • Strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for Geography
  • A proven ability to plan and deliver consistently high-quality lessons
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Experience of raising pupil attainment and securing strong progress
  • The ability to differentiate and adapt teaching to meet the needs of individual pupils
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive and reflective approach to teaching
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
  • High expectations of pupil behaviour, achievement and personal development
  • A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and the wider wellbeing of pupils
  • Flexibility, resilience and the ability to think on your feet in a busy school environment
