Learning Support Assistant – Bradford

At Engage, we know that a school runs on quality support staff. We’ve built strong relationships with schools across Bradford, and we’re now looking to expand our pool of dedicated Learning Support Assistants. We currently have three full-time positions available, with successful candidates required to start as soon as possible.

About the role:

  • Three full-time Learning Support Assistant vacancies

  • Supporting pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with additional learning needs
  • Supporting pupils with SEND, lower attainment and barriers to learning
  • Helping pupils access the curriculum and develop their confidence, independence and social skills
  • Working closely with teaching staff and the wider pastoral and SEND teams
  • Supporting positive behaviour and maintaining a safe, inclusive learning environment

The successful candidates will play an important role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with experienced teachers and support staff, gaining valuable experience within a busy secondary school environment.

To be successful as a Learning Support Assistant, you will need to be patient, resilient and committed to helping young people succeed. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A calm, patient and nurturing approach
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils
  • Confidence supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis
  • A genuine interest in supporting children and young people with additional needs
  • The ability to encourage, motivate and positively engage pupils
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively alongside teachers and other professionals
  • A consistent and positive approach to behaviour management
  • The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
  • Good organisational skills and reliability
  • A flexible and proactive attitude
  • A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and the wellbeing of all pupils

Previous experience working with children, young people or pupils with SEND would be advantageous, although candidates with relevant transferable experience and the right attitude are encouraged to apply.
