Learning Support Assistant – Primary School in Mitcham (South West London)

About the role:
This Learning Support Assistant position is based in a welcoming and supportive primary school in Mitcham. The school is looking to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to start after the May half term.

You will be working closely with pupils who require additional support, helping them to access the curriculum and reach their full potential.

  • Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, including those with additional needs
  • Assisting in the delivery of lessons and adapting activities where required
  • Supporting pupils with their educational, social, and emotional development
  • Helping to manage behaviour in line with the school’s policies
  • Preparing classroom resources and supporting the class teacher
  • Providing feedback to teachers and contributing to pupil progress tracking

This is a rewarding role for someone who is patient, proactive, and passionate about supporting children, particularly those with SEND.

The ideal candidate:

  • Experience working with children or young people (school-based experience is desirable)
  • A patient, calm, and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
  • A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 TA or degree) is desirable but not essential
