South African teachers, do you want to relocate to England?
Attention teachers in South Africa, we’re hiring right now! If you’re looking to kickstart your career or enrich your current one, then working abroad is an excellent way to do this. We are currently hiring teachers to come and work in England for 2024/2025, so if you’re interested in learning more about our relocation programme, we’ve put together a short and informative blog with all the information you’ll need.
Teaching in England comes with great benefits. In England, you can expect a stable economy, higher salaries and more flexible contracts to suit your new teaching journey.
What are the benefits?
- Improved lesson creativity: In England, there is a much broader curriculum, which will give you flexibility and creativity when lesson planning in comparison to other countries. If you want to practise new ways of engaging pupils or simply want to switch up your teaching style, then England is a great place to go.
- Experience a new country and culture: If travel is something you’re passionate about, then why not combine this passion with your work and teach abroad? This gives you the opportunity to explore a new country whilst also learning, earning, and improving your professional experience.
- Tailored support: We know that relocating can be difficult and overwhelming, especially if this will be your first experience of working abroad. That’s why we offer support and guidance as well as a range of courses that you can enrol on to continuously improve your skills whilst living and working abroad.
What are the eligibility criteria to work in England?
There are currently four visas available for South African nationals:
- Ancestry visa: This visa is for people who hold a South African or Commonwealth passport with a parent or grandparent born in the UK. With this visa, you can work and bring dependents. This visa will last for 5 years.
- Skilled Worker visa: This is a 1 to 5-year visa which allows you to stay in the UK to teach with an approved employer (school). This visa has replaced the Tier 2 General Work Visa and you must have a confirmed job offer before you apply for this visa.
- Family visa: This is a visa that allows you to stay in the UK for up to 3 years if you have a partner who is British or Irish.
Student and graduate Visa: If you’re a South African or African who has studied in the UK on a student visa, you will be eligible to transfer onto a graduate visa which extends your stay for a further 2 years.
