Engage Education has partnered with 21 primary schools across Tower Hamlets to recruit aspiring SEND Teaching Assistants for a September 2026 start.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a mainstream primary school supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) whilst completing a fully funded Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship, worth over £7,000. Upon successful completion, there may also be opportunities to progress onto a Level 4 qualification at no cost.
About the Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant Apprentice, you will:
• Support pupils with additional learning and developmental needs
• Work alongside experienced teachers and SEND professionals
• Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions
• Help pupils access learning and develop confidence within the classroom
• Gain valuable hands-on experience in a primary school environment
The programme combines practical classroom experience with structured training and professional development over an 11-month period.
What We Are Looking For
We are seeking enthusiastic, professional, and committed individuals who are passionate about supporting children.
Successful applicants must have:
• Strong spoken and written English skills
• Excellent communication skills and confidence working with children
• A genuine interest in education and SEND support
• The ability to commit to the full apprenticeship programme
• The right to work in the UK
• Lived in the UK for the last three consecutive years (apprenticeship funding requirement)
Selection Process
As part of the recruitment process, candidates will be required to:
• Attend an interview with Engage Education
• Complete written English-based tasks
• Attend school interviews and trial days
• Demonstrate a clear understanding of the commitment required to complete an apprenticeship alongside full-time employment
