SEN Teaching Assistant – Hailsham

Full-Time | September 2026 Start

Engage Education is recruiting for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school in Hailsham from September 2026.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys making a positive difference in children’s lives and is keen to support pupils with additional learning needs. You will work alongside teaching staff to provide individualised support and help create a positive environment where every pupil can thrive.

About the role:

• Supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs within the classroom
• Delivering 1:1 and small group support to aid learning and development
• Helping pupils access the curriculum through tailored support strategies
• Assisting with classroom activities, resources, and learning interventions
• Supporting pupils’ communication, social skills, and independence
• Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in lessons
• Supporting pupils who may require additional emotional or behavioural guidance
• Working collaboratively with teachers and the wider SEN team
• Providing feedback on pupil progress and support needs

About you:

• Previous experience supporting children, young people, or individuals with additional needs is desirable
• Experience in a school, care, support, or youth setting would be beneficial
• Caring, patient, and supportive approach
• Able to remain calm and positive in challenging situations
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Willing to learn and develop within an SEN environment
• Reliable, adaptable, and committed to supporting pupils
• Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
