Job Title: ASD Specialist Teaching Assistant (Subject Specialist)

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable ASD Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and inclusive school community in Merton. This role is ideal for a graduate with a strong academic background in a specialist subject area who is passionate about supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
You will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to provide tailored support to students with ASD, helping them access the curriculum—particularly within your subject specialism—and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with ASD
- Support learning in your subject specialism (e.g. Maths, English, Science, or similar)
- Adapt resources and teaching approaches to meet individual needs
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
- Assist in the development and implementation of EHCP targets
- Collaborate with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals
Requirements
- A degree in a relevant subject (e.g. Mathematics, English, Science, Psychology, or related field)
- Experience working with children or young people with ASD (desirable)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach
- A genuine passion for inclusive education
