Engage Education is recruiting Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to work across a number of welcoming and supportive primary schools in Haringey from September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting teaching and learning, leading small group interventions, and covering whole classes during teacher release time or short-term absences.

The Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Deliver pre-planned lessons across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2 when teachers are absent or out of class.
• Lead small group and 1:1 intervention programmes to raise pupil attainment.
• Support pupils with a range of learning needs, including those with SEND.
• Work closely with class teachers to plan, prepare, and adapt learning activities.
• Assess and monitor pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers.
• Promote positive behaviour and create an engaging, inclusive learning environment.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school and support whole-school initiatives where appropriate.

We’re Looking For

• HLTA status or significant experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a UK primary school.
• Confidence leading whole-class learning across different year groups.
• Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum.
• Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
• A proactive, flexible, and organised approach.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
