Graduate Secondary School Teaching Assistant
We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated Graduate Teaching Assistant to join our thriving secondary school in South Manchester from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate considering a career in education, teaching, educational psychology, or youth development.
Working alongside experienced teachers and pastoral staff, you will play a vital role in supporting students’ academic progress, wellbeing and personal development across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates who want to move into a career in teaching. You will benefit from in-depth support and training from the school, and develop your knowledge of the national curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students in lessons across a range of subjects.
- Deliver small-group and one-to-one interventions to help raise attainment.
- Assist teachers with lesson preparation, classroom management and assessment activities.
- Supporting students aged 11-16 years old
- Provide targeted support for students with additional learning needs.
- Help create a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
- Support extracurricular activities, enrichment programmes and school events.
- Contribute to students’ pastoral care and wellbeing.
About You
We are looking for candidates who:
- Graduate
- Have a genuine interest in working with young people.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Are organised, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Demonstrate patience, resilience and a positive attitude.
- Have previous experience working with children or young people in holiday clubs, sports clubs, youth work (desirable but not essential).
