We are seeking a dedicated, resilient and compassionate Behaviour Mentor to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in the Stockport area from September. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for someone who thrives on building positive relationships and helping students overcome barriers to learning.
The Role
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students who require additional behavioural, emotional or social support. You will play a key role in promoting positive behaviour, improving engagement and helping students achieve their full potential.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing one-to-one and small group behavioural support.
- Building positive, trusting relationships with students.
- Supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
- Working alongside teaching staff, pastoral teams and SEN professionals.
- Encouraging positive behaviour both inside and outside the classroom.
- Implementing behaviour support plans and restorative approaches.
- Helping create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience working with young people in a school, youth work, mentoring or support role.
- Has excellent behaviour management and communication skills.
- Remains calm, patient and resilient in challenging situations.
- Can build strong professional relationships with students and staff.
- Has a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing.
Experience supporting students with SEMH, autism, ADHD or challenging behaviour is highly desirable but not essential.
