Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning?
A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Haringey is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join its pastoral team from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in education, youth work, educational psychology or pastoral support.
Working closely with the school’s pastoral team, you will support students who require additional behavioural, emotional and academic guidance, helping them to engage positively with school life and achieve their full potential.
The Role
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will:
- Provide one to one and small group mentoring sessions for students.
- Support pupils with behavioural, emotional and social needs.
- Help students regulate their behaviour and remain engaged in learning.
- Build positive relationships based on trust, consistency and encouragement.
- Work closely with teachers, Heads of Year, SENCO and safeguarding staff.
- Support students both inside and outside of the classroom.
- Monitor attendance, behaviour and academic progress.
- Promote positive behaviour and resilience throughout the school day.
We’re Looking For
This role would suit:
- Graduates considering a career in teaching or educational psychology.
- Experienced Behaviour Mentors or Teaching Assistants.
- Youth workers, sports coaches and learning mentors.
- Individuals with experience supporting young people with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviour.
- Passionate individuals who can act as positive role models.
The Ideal Candidate
- Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Is calm, resilient and confident managing challenging situations.
- Can remain patient and professional under pressure.
- Has experience working with young people (school-based experience is desirable but not essential).
- Can commit to working full time throughout the academic year.
