We are currently working with a specialist SEN school in Pudsey, Leeds (LS28), seeking dedicated and compassionate Autism Support Workers to join their bank staff team on a flexible, short-term basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain experience within SEND education, whether you’re an experienced support worker or someone with a genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs.
About the Role
As an Autism Support Worker, you will provide vital support to pupils with a range of special educational needs, helping them engage in learning, develop independence, and thrive within the school environment.
The pupils you will support may have:
- Autism, including verbal and non-verbal communication needs
- Learning difficulties
- Complex additional needs
- Social, emotional, and communication challenges
Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
- Encouraging participation in classroom and enrichment activities
- Assisting with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
- Promoting independence and confidence
- Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils and staff
- Supporting the implementation of individual learning and behaviour plans
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from individuals who:
- Have experience supporting children or young people with SEND, autism, or additional needs
- Have worked in care, youth work, mentoring, coaching, or support roles
- Have experience delivering workshops, Theatre in Education (TIE), performing arts, or community activities
- Are passionate about supporting vulnerable children and young people
- Are proactive, patient, and adaptable
- Can build strong relationships and work effectively as part of a team
