At Engage Education, we’re working in partnership with a primary school in Bracknell to recruit an experienced and passionate Assistant Head – Inclusion (SEND). This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated school leader to make a meaningful impact by strengthening SEND provision and supporting whole-school improvement during an important period of development.
This is a high-profile leadership role, ideal for an experienced Assistant Headteacher or an ambitious senior leader with extensive SEND expertise who is ready to take the next step in their career.
About the Role
As Assistant Head – Inclusion, you will work closely with the Headteacher and senior leadership team to provide strategic leadership for SEND and inclusion across the school. You’ll play a key role in embedding high-quality inclusive practice, supporting staff development, and ensuring every pupil receives the support they need to thrive.
The school is currently strengthening its provision for pupils with additional needs, making this a fantastic opportunity to shape and develop inclusive practice while working alongside a supportive multi-academy trust.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic development of SEND and inclusion across the school.
- Support and provide leadership to the SENCo, including line management where appropriate.
- Help establish and embed two new internal SEND provisions.
- Work collaboratively with the Headteacher and Trust leaders to drive school improvement.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, carers, staff and external agencies.
- Ensure high standards of teaching, learning and outcomes for pupils with SEND.
- Promote an inclusive culture where every child can succeed.
- Monitor provision, evaluate impact and contribute to whole-school improvement planning.
- Support staff through coaching, guidance and professional development.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Significant experience leading SEND and inclusion within a primary school.
- Previous experience as an Assistant Headteacher or in another senior leadership position is desirable.
- A strong understanding of SEND legislation, inclusive practice and effective intervention strategies.
- Experience working within schools undergoing improvement or organisational change.
- Excellent leadership, communication and relationship-building skills.
- High expectations for pupils and staff, alongside resilience and a proactive approach.
- The ability to inspire confidence and work effectively with families, colleagues and external professionals.
