About the Role

In this close-knit 1-form entry setting, you will work closely with the Reception Class Teacher to nurture a small cohort of early learners. You will help deliver engaging, play-based learning activities both indoors and outdoors, lead small group phonics and numeracy sessions, and support children as they build independence, confidence, and social skills in their first formal year of school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting continuous provision and outdoor learning in line with the EYFS framework.
  • Delivering targeted small-group interventions in Early Reading, Phonics, and basic Numeracy.
  • Assisting the class teacher with observations, baseline tracking, and updating early learning profiles.
  • Supporting pupils with personal, social, and emotional development (PSED), encouraging self-regulation and positive behavior.
  • Providing 1:1 support for children requiring extra help with speech and language or fine motor skills.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Experience: Hands-on experience working in an EYFS setting (Reception or Nursery) within a primary school.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with the EYFS statutory framework and early literacy/phonics programs.
  • Mindset: Warm, creative, patient, and proactive with a genuine love for early childhood education.
  • Qualifications: Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant / Early Years qualification preferred.

Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
  • Full eligibility to work in the UK with professional references covering the last two years.
