Salary: £95–£115 per day, depending on experience

Are you passionate about supporting young people to build confidence, overcome barriers and achieve their potential?

Engage Education are currently recruiting a Learning Mentor to work within a specialist SEN school in Oldham. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is patient, resilient and passionate about helping pupils develop both academically and personally.

The Role

As a Learning Mentor, you will work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff to provide individualised support to pupils with a range of additional needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group mentoring and learning support
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Supporting pupils with SEN, SEMH, autism and behavioural needs
  • Helping students overcome barriers to learning
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Supporting pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence
  • Helping pupils engage with lessons and school activities
  • Working alongside teachers and pastoral teams
  • Supporting individual learning plans and EHCP outcomes
  • Providing encouragement and motivation to help pupils achieve their goals

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Caring, patient and resilient
  • Confident supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Able to build strong relationships with young people
  • Calm and consistent when managing challenging behaviour
  • A strong communicator and positive role model
  • Passionate about helping young people succeed

Previous experience in SEN, schools, youth work, mentoring, care, sports coaching, behaviour support or similar settings would be highly desirable.

Teaching qualifications are not essential — relevant experience and the right attitude are equally valued.
