About the Role

Working closely with the Reception Class Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, inspiring, and engaging learning environment. You will assist in delivering continuous provision across indoor and outdoor settings, lead small-group phonics and early numeracy activities, and provide tailored support to help pupils build confidence, independence, and social skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting play-based continuous provision and outdoor learning in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
• Delivering small-group interventions in Early Reading, Phonics (e.g. Read Write Inc. or Little Wandle), and basic Numeracy.
• Assisting the class teacher with observations, baseline tracking, and updating early learning records.
• Fostering independence, self-regulation, and positive personal, social, and emotional development (PSED).
• Providing targeted 1:1 support for pupils requiring extra guidance with speech and language development or fine motor skills.

Who We’re Looking For

• Experience: Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in an Early Years setting (Nursery or Reception) within a primary school.
• Knowledge: Sound understanding of the EYFS framework and early literacy/phonics schemes.
• Mindset: Warm, creative, patient, and proactive with a genuine passion for early childhood development.
• Qualifications: Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant / Early Years qualification preferred.

Requirements

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
• Full eligibility to work in the UK with professional references covering the last two years.
