Are you a qualified English teacher looking for your next opportunity? Whether you are an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT), this could be the ideal role for you.

We are working with a welcoming and inclusive Catholic secondary school in the Bradford area, which is seeking a passionate Teacher of English to join its dedicated team on a full-time, long-term basis, starting ASAP.

About the role

The successful applicant will join an experienced and supportive English department within a high-quality school environment. You will be responsible for delivering engaging, challenging and inspiring English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping students develop their confidence, creativity and communication skills.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • A recognised teaching qualification, such as QTS, or an equivalent formal teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching English at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with the ability to support students across a range of abilities
  • A strong subject knowledge and genuine passion for English and literature
  • The ability to plan and deliver engaging, well-structured and appropriately challenging lessons
  • High expectations of student achievement, behaviour and personal development
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to establish positive relationships with students
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to adapt your teaching to meet the needs of different learners
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute positively to the wider English department and school community
  • Resilience, enthusiasm and the ability to think on your feet in a busy secondary school environment
  • A commitment to the school’s inclusive ethos and Catholic values

Desirable skills and experience include:

  • Experience teaching GCSE English Language and/or Literature
  • Experience supporting students with additional learning needs or differing levels of attainment
  • Experience contributing to extracurricular English, reading or literacy activities
  • A willingness to take an active role in the wider life of the school
  • Previous experience working within a faith-based or Catholic school environment

ECTs are warmly encouraged to apply, with appropriate support available to help you develop your teaching career.
