Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people?

We are seeking a dedicated, resilient and compassionate Behaviour Mentor to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in the South Manchester area from September. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for someone who is committed to helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students who require additional behavioural, emotional and pastoral support. You will build positive relationships, promote engagement in learning and help create a safe, respectful and inclusive school environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students on a one-to-one and small group basis.
  • Managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies.
  • Helping pupils develop emotional resilience, confidence and social skills.
  • Working alongside teachers, pastoral leaders and the SEN team to implement support plans.
  • Acting as a positive role model both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Promoting attendance, engagement and positive attitudes towards learning.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with young people, ideally in a secondary school, alternative provision or youth setting.
  • Can build strong, professional relationships with students.
  • Is calm, patient and confident when managing challenging behaviour.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is passionate about supporting vulnerable young people to succeed.
  • Holds relevant qualifications or experience in education, youth work, mentoring, coaching, psychology, social care or similar (desirable but not essential).
