Engage Education is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Bromley from September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with students aged 11–16, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
Whether you’re an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant, a graduate looking to gain school-based experience, or someone with a background in care, youth work, or support work, we’d love to hear from you.
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with additional needs.
- Support pupils with a range of needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- Work alongside teachers to adapt learning activities and ensure students can access the curriculum.
- Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and independence.
- Build trusting relationships with students to support both their academic progress and emotional wellbeing.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, therapists, and pastoral teams.
We’re Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND is desirable.
- A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to remain calm and confident in challenging situations.
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
