Maths Tutor (Further Education & Supported Learning)

Location: Headingley
Salary: £12,737 – £14,132 per annum (Actual Salary)
Hours: Part-time, 15 hours per week

We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist education setting in Headingley that is dedicated to helping young people achieve their potential through high-quality teaching, personalised support, and inclusive learning.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive team, delivering engaging Maths lessons to students in a Further Education and Supported Learning environment.

About the Role

As a Maths Tutor, you will deliver inspiring and differentiated Maths lessons that enable learners to develop confidence, achieve recognised qualifications, and progress towards their personal goals.

Working closely with colleagues across the education team, you will assess learners’ needs, monitor progress, develop Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), and provide targeted support to help every student succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging Maths lessons tailored to individual learner needs.
  • Assess students’ starting points through initial assessments and diagnostics.
  • Develop and review Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).
  • Monitor student progress and implement interventions where required.
  • Prepare learners for Maths qualifications and examinations.
  • Work alongside the Exams Officer to ensure accurate exam entries.
  • Support students who have already achieved GCSE Maths through enrichment activities.
  • Use assessment data to inform teaching and curriculum planning.
  • Collaborate with support staff, SENCOs, Job Coaches and wider education teams.
  • Maintain accurate learner records and contribute to EHCP reviews.
  • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and positive learning environments at all times.

About You

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • A recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Maths, ideally within Further Education, SEND, Supported Learning or Alternative Provision.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Maths curriculum and qualification pathways.
  • Experience assessing learner progress and adapting teaching to meet individual needs.
  • A passion for helping young people with additional needs achieve their full potential.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
  • A positive, flexible and student-centred approach.
