Psychology Graduate – Gain Specialist SEND Experience
Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain valuable hands-on experience before pursuing a career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Teaching, or another child-focused profession?
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Psychology Graduate to join a specialist SEND school in Boston Spa. This long-term, full-time opportunity offers invaluable experience supporting children and young people with a range of complex learning needs while working alongside experienced teachers, therapists, and SEND professionals.

About the Role
As a Learning Support Assistant (LSA), you will support pupils with severe and complex additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop independence, and achieve their individual goals.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
- Assisting teachers in delivering personalised learning activities
- Supporting pupils with Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and communication needs
- Using visual supports and communication strategies to encourage engagement
- Assisting with sensory activities and therapeutic interventions
- Preparing and adapting classroom resources to meet individual learning needs
- Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teachers and therapists
- Promoting independence, confidence, emotional wellbeing, and positive behaviour
- Building positive relationships with pupils, families, and the wider multidisciplinary team

About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- A Psychology graduate (or due to graduate soon)
- Passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs
- Patient, caring, and resilient
- A confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
- Adaptable and able to respond positively to different learning needs
- Keen to gain specialist SEND experience before progressing into further study or professional training
