Engage Education is working with a welcoming school in Crawley to recruit a reliable and proactive School Caretaker for a full-time position starting in September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in site management, maintenance, facilities, or a practical background to join a supportive school environment. The successful candidate will help ensure the premises remain safe, secure, and well maintained for pupils, staff, and visitors.

About the role:

• Taking responsibility for the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the school site
• Opening and closing the premises, ensuring buildings are secure
• Carrying out general repairs, maintenance checks, and minor works
• Supporting health and safety procedures across the school
• Monitoring contractors and reporting any site issues or concerns
• Maintaining the grounds, facilities, and equipment to a high standard
• Preparing rooms and spaces for meetings, events, and school activities
• Managing deliveries, moving furniture, and supporting general site requirements
• Monitoring heating, lighting, and other building systems
• Ensuring the school environment remains safe, clean, and welcoming

About you:

• Previous experience in caretaking, premises, facilities, maintenance, or a similar role
• Practical skills and confidence carrying out general repairs
• Good understanding of site safety and security procedures
• Reliable, organised, and able to manage a varied workload
• Able to work independently and use initiative
• Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards
• Professional approach when working with staff, contractors, and visitors
• Flexible and proactive attitude
• Full UK driving licence is desirable
