Engage Education is working with a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Maybush, Southampton to recruit a Cover Supervisor for an immediate start. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to gain classroom experience, develop their skills within education, or take the first step towards a teaching career.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising lessons during teacher absences, ensuring students remain engaged with their learning and maintaining a positive classroom environment.

About the role:

• Supervising classes across a range of subjects in the absence of teaching staff
• Delivering pre-planned lessons and ensuring students complete set work
• Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
• Supporting students to remain focused and engaged throughout lessons
• Taking registers and reporting any concerns to relevant staff members
• Maintaining a safe and productive learning environment
• Building positive relationships with students and colleagues across the school

About you:

• Experience working with children or young people is desirable
• Confident leading and managing groups of students
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Calm, professional, and adaptable approach
• Ability to work independently and use initiative
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail
• Suitable for graduates, aspiring teachers, sports coaches, youth workers, and experienced school support staff
