Engage Education is working with a supportive and ambitious secondary school in Southampton to recruit a Cover Supervisor to start asap. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain valuable classroom experience, whether you’re considering a future career in teaching or are an experienced education professional seeking a rewarding role.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning by supervising classes during teacher absences and ensuring students remain focused and engaged throughout lessons.

About the role:

• Supervising classes across a range of subjects in the absence of teaching staff
• Delivering pre-planned lessons and ensuring students complete set work
• Managing classroom behaviour in accordance with school policies
• Supporting students with their learning and encouraging engagement
• Taking registers and reporting any concerns to relevant staff members
• Maintaining a safe, positive, and productive learning environment
• Building positive relationships with students and staff across the school

About you:

• Experience working with children or young people is desirable
• Confident managing groups of students in a classroom environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Calm, professional, and adaptable approach
• Ability to work independently and use initiative
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, youth workers, sports coaches, or experienced school support staff
