Engage and inspire your classroom during Halloween with educational and fun activities

Educational studies have shown that students learn best when they are having fun while doing so, so why not use Halloween as an opportunity to engage your students in their learning through some of the activities below?

Decorate

Why not decorate your classroom and involve your students? There are many resources online you can use to make ghostly posters, colour-themed bunting and papier-mache pumpkins! Having a decorated environment will engage your students, whilst letting them have fun and get creative at the same time.

Have a Halloween competition

Inspire your students to unleash their inner author with a spooky short story competition, a great way to combine creativity and imagination, whilst letting pupils explore mysterious characters. Whether it’s a ghostly tale, a haunted house mystery, or a pumpkin-themed saga, this activity will give your students a chance to get into creative writing.

Hold a themed treasure hunt

Looking for a fun, active way to celebrate Halloween and keep students engaged? Why not hold a Halloween-themed treasure hunt in your classroom or around the school? A treasure hunt is a great way to reinforce learning, encourage teamwork and participation and bring some seasonal excitement into your day.

Tip: Why not tailor it to your subject? Add in spelling clues, math puzzles, story-based hints, or even Halloween trivia!

Get involved with science experiments

Spark curiosity in your classroom with Halloween-inspired science experiments. Twinkl hosts a range of resources on their website to help you plan your lessons with step-by-step guides and prompt cards to spark discussion in your classroom.

Play some fun but educational Halloween games

Whether you choose a creepy crossword, a spooky math challenge, or a Halloween-themed word scramble, these games will help students stay engaged, think critically, and have a blast.
