Apprentice SEMH Teaching Assistant – Roman Catholic Primary School | Droylsden
Pay: £10.00 – £13.00 per hour (well above standard apprenticeship rates!)
Contract: Full-Time | 11-Month Apprenticeship Programme

Engage Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive Roman Catholic primary school in Droylsden to recruit an Apprentice SEMH Teaching Assistant.
This is a fantastic opportunity to begin a rewarding career supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs whilst gaining a fully funded Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification. You’ll be based within the school’s dedicated SEMH provision, working alongside experienced staff to help pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop emotional regulation and build confidence both in and out of the classroom.
We’re looking for someone who is genuinely committed to completing the full 11-month apprenticeship programme and wants to build a long-term career within education.

About the Role
Working within the school’s specialist SEMH provision, you will:
- Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups with social, emotional and behavioural needs
- Help children develop emotional regulation, resilience and positive relationships
- Build trusting relationships with pupils through consistency, patience and positive behaviour strategies
- Support learning activities both inside the classroom and within the specialist provision
- Encourage positive behaviour using restorative and nurturing approaches
- Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and pastoral team to ensure every child can achieve their potential
- Help create a calm, structured and supportive learning environment where pupils feel safe and valued

Requirements
- A genuine commitment to completing the full 11-month apprenticeship
- A calm, patient and resilient approach
- A passion for supporting children with additional emotional and behavioural needs
- GCSE English and Maths Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) is desirable
- Must not already be enrolled on another government-funded qualification
