Design & Technology Teacher Required for Secondary School in Bradford
Are you a qualified Design & Technology teacher looking for your next opportunity? Whether you’re an experienced teacher or an ECT, this could be the ideal role for you.
We are working with a supportive and ambitious secondary school in the Bradford area, which is seeking a Design & Technology Teacher to join its team ASAP.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a school where high expectations, excellent teaching and strong pupil behaviour are firmly embedded across the school. Ofsted rated the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, and leadership and management as Outstanding, with the school receiving an overall Good judgement at its January 2024 inspection.
About the role
The successful applicant will join a committed and experienced team within a school that places a strong emphasis on high-quality teaching and ambitious outcomes for every pupil.
You will teach Design & Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging theory and practical lessons that develop pupils’ creativity, technical knowledge and problem-solving skills.
Design & Technology is a particular strength of the school. Ofsted highlighted the effectiveness of teaching in the subject, noting that pupils develop the knowledge and skills required to create increasingly sophisticated products. Pupils are also encouraged to apply their learning independently when tackling unfamiliar design challenges.
This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about developing pupils’ practical skills, creativity and ability to solve problems.
You will be joining a school with:
- An ambitious curriculum designed to build effectively on pupils’ prior knowledge
- Outstanding quality of education, with pupils developing strong subject knowledge
- High expectations for pupil achievement and behaviour
- A culture of mutual respect, where pupils are confident and engaged in their learning
- Strong pastoral systems and a clear commitment to pupil wellbeing
- A supportive approach to staff workload, wellbeing and professional development
- Effective provision for pupils with SEND, ensuring they can access the same ambitious curriculum as their peers
This is a full-time, long-term opportunity for a teacher who is ready to make a positive contribution to a high-performing department and a secondary school with a clear vision for its pupils.
About you
The successful Design & Technology Teacher will ideally have:
- A recognised teaching qualification, such as QTS (ECTs are welcome to apply)
- Experience teaching Design & Technology at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
- Strong practical and technical knowledge across Design & Technology
- A passion for developing pupils’ creativity, problem-solving and practical skills
- The ability to plan and deliver engaging, challenging and well-structured theory and practical lessons
- High expectations of pupil achievement, behaviour and participation
- The confidence to differentiate effectively for a range of abilities, including pupils with SEND
- The ability to adapt quickly, think on your feet and respond positively to different learning needs
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- A collaborative approach and a genuine desire to contribute to the wider life of the school
- A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and the wider development of young people
Above all, we are looking for a teacher who can inspire pupils to design, create, evaluate and solve problems, while helping them develop the confidence and resilience to tackle increasingly complex challenges.
