Engage Education is recruiting a Student Support Mentor to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Tower Hamlets from September 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity for graduates, youth workers, mentors, Teaching Assistants, and support professionals who are committed to helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

As a Student Support Mentor, you’ll work closely with pupils who need additional academic, pastoral, or emotional support, helping them build confidence, resilience, and positive relationships.

The Role

As a Student Support Mentor, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring to students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Support pupils with attendance, behaviour, wellbeing, and engagement in learning.
  • Build positive relationships with students, acting as a trusted role model.
  • Work alongside teachers, pastoral leaders, SEND staff, and safeguarding teams to support individual student needs.
  • Help students develop confidence, organisation, study skills, and emotional resilience.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote high expectations throughout the school.
  • Monitor student progress and contribute to support plans where required.

We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with young people in schools, mentoring, youth work, sports coaching, tutoring, care, or similar settings is desirable.
  • A positive, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to motivate and inspire young people.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • A genuine passion for education and student wellbeing.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
