Engage Education is recruiting a Student Support Mentor for a secondary school in Ashford, Surrey, starting in September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong interpersonal and behaviour management skills who is committed to supporting students to overcome challenges, improve their engagement, and achieve their full potential. You will play a key role in promoting a positive learning environment while helping students develop confidence, resilience, and self-belief.
The Role
As a Student Support Mentor, you will:
- Provide targeted support to students who require additional guidance with behaviour, attendance, or engagement.
- Build positive, professional relationships that encourage students to succeed academically and personally.
- Support students during lessons, social times, and transitions around the school.
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral leaders, and safeguarding staff to implement tailored support strategies.
- Help students develop positive coping strategies, resilience, and confidence.
- Encourage high standards of behaviour and promote a respectful, inclusive school environment.
- Monitor student progress and contribute to intervention meetings where required.
The Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with young people in schools, youth work, mentoring, sports coaching, or a similar setting.
- Is confident managing behaviour and can de-escalate challenging situations effectively.
- Is resilient, approachable, and able to remain calm under pressure.
- Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Is committed to supporting students from a wide range of backgrounds.
- Has a genuine passion for education and helping young people succeed.
