Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

Engage Education is recruiting SEND Teaching Assistants to work across a range of welcoming and inclusive primary schools in Tower Hamlets from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced SEND Teaching Assistants, graduates, aspiring teachers, or individuals with a background in care, childcare, youth work, or support work who are committed to helping children thrive both academically and socially.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2.
  • Support children with a range of additional needs, including:
    • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
    • ADHD
    • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
    • Moderate and Specific Learning Difficulties (MLD/SpLD)
    • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs and support access to the curriculum.
  • Encourage communication, independence, confidence, and social development.
  • Implement strategies outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents to ensure pupils receive high-quality support.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where every child can succeed.

We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND is desirable.
  • A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to remain calm and positive in challenging situations.
  • A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
