EN Teaching Assistant (KS1 or KS2) – Mitcham

Pay: £90 per day (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026 – Full Academic Year

We are currently working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Mitcham that is looking to appoint a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team for the next academic year. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity supporting pupils in Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2.

About the role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils in KS1 or KS2 who have a range of additional needs, providing tailored support to help them access learning and achieve their full potential.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 support or working with small groups of pupils
  • Supporting children with a range of special educational needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH
  • Assisting the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons
  • Helping to implement individual education and behaviour plans
  • Encouraging pupils’ independence, confidence, and social development
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents

About you

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school or educational setting (desirable but not essential)
  • Be patient, caring, and enthusiastic
  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Be passionate about making a positive impact on children’s education
  • Be proactive, adaptable, and committed to supporting pupils with additional needs
