We are working with a caring and inclusive primary school in Islington that is looking to appoint a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join its committed inclusion team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a school that places inclusion, wellbeing and personalised learning at the heart of everything it does.

About the Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with additional needs to access learning and develop socially, emotionally and academically.

You will:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support for pupils with additional learning needs.
  • Support children with Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs and other learning difficulties.
  • Deliver targeted interventions to improve communication, literacy, numeracy and social skills.
  • Use positive behaviour strategies to encourage engagement and emotional regulation.
  • Adapt classroom activities to meet individual learning needs.
  • Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and external professionals to support pupil progress.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, helping them develop confidence and independence.

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children with SEND in a school, nursery, care or community setting.
  • Is calm, patient and resilient when supporting children with additional needs.
  • Can build trusting relationships with pupils and their families.
  • Is an excellent team player with strong communication skills.
  • Has a genuine passion for inclusive education.
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.

Experience with sensory strategies, communication aids, Makaton, PECS or Team Teach is desirable but not essential.
