Early Career Teacher (ECT) – Special Needs School

Location:  Lewes

Working Hours: 08:30 am – 16:00 pm.

Your Role

As the lead teacher, you will:

  • Create Impactful Learning Experiences: Design and deliver tailored lesson plans that address individual learning needs and styles.
  • Support Diverse Needs: Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment for students with varying special needs.
  • Monitor Progress: Regularly assess and adapt teaching strategies to ensure every student achieves their goals.
  • Develop IEPs: Collaborate on Individual Education Plans, ensuring goals are realistic and met effectively.
  • Encourage Positive Behaviour: Implement supportive strategies to manage and address behavioural challenges.
  • Engage Families: Build strong relationships with parents and caregivers, keeping them informed and involved.
  • Collaborate Holistically: Work with teaching assistants, therapists, and other specialists to deliver well-rounded support.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or working towards it.
  • A strong interest or experience in special needs education.

Key Skills:

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special needs.
  • Strong organisational and classroom management skills.
  • Creativity and adaptability in delivering personalised learning experiences.

Desirable Expertise:

  • Previous experience in special needs education.
  • Familiarity with Autism, SEMH, and complex needs.
  • Knowledge of alternative communication methods and adaptive teaching tools.
