SEND Cover Supervisor – Gosport
Full-Time Cover Supervisor Needed – Specialist Secondary School
At Engage Education, we’ve spent over a decade ensuring our education professionals are supported, valued and matched with schools where they can thrive. We are currently recruiting for a confident and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join a welcoming and supportive specialist secondary school in the Gosport area on a full-time, temp-to-perm basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a school that is dedicated to supporting young people with a range of additional needs. The school provides a nurturing, structured environment where positive relationships, consistency and personalised support are at the heart of everything they do. The successful candidate will join a committed staff team with the opportunity to secure a permanent position.
About the role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged with the work that has been set. You will help maintain a calm, positive learning environment and support students to achieve their potential across a range of subjects.
This role would particularly suit someone who is patient, resilient and passionate about making a difference to young people’s lives. Experience supporting students with additional needs, including social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs or autism, would be beneficial, although full support and guidance will be provided.
This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday during term time, with the opportunity to move into a permanent role for the right candidate.
What we’re looking for
- Experience working with secondary-aged students, either in a school or similar setting
- Confidence managing classroom behaviour and building positive relationships
- A calm, patient and adaptable approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A genuine passion for supporting young people with a range of learning and additional needs
- The ability to follow school policies and contribute to a positive school culture
Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor is desirable but not essential. Candidates with transferable experience working with young people, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring or care are encouraged to apply. This would also be well suited to experienced SEND Teaching Assistants looking for their next new challenge.
