School Caretaker – Chichester

Engage Education is working with a welcoming school in Chichester to recruit a full-time School Caretaker for a September 2026 start. This is an excellent opportunity for a practical and dependable individual to join a dedicated site team and play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and well-presented environment for students and staff.
The successful candidate will support the day-to-day operation of the school site, helping to ensure facilities remain fully operational throughout the academic year.

About the role:
 

Opening and securing the school premises each day
 

Carrying out routine maintenance and minor repair work
 

Conducting regular site inspections and health and safety checks
 

Ensuring the school grounds remain clean, safe, and presentable
 

Supporting contractors and external visitors whilst on site
 

Assisting with room setups for events, examinations, and meetings
 

Reporting maintenance issues and coordinating repairs where required
 

Supporting site security and safeguarding procedures
 

Assisting with deliveries and movement of equipment around the school

About you:
 

Previous experience in caretaking, maintenance, facilities, or site management
 

Practical DIY and repair skills
 

Understanding of health and safety responsibilities
 

Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently
 

Good communication and organisational skills
 

Flexible approach to supporting the needs of the school
 

Ability to prioritise workload and respond to issues efficiently
 

Full UK driving licence is desirable
