Engage Education is working with a number of welcoming and inclusive primary schools across Islington that are looking to appoint enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistants for September.

The Role

As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers to support pupils across EYFS, KS1 or KS2. You’ll play a key role in creating a positive learning environment, helping pupils build confidence and make excellent progress both academically and socially.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Supporting pupils in the classroom on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
• Assisting the class teacher with delivering engaging learning activities.
• Supporting children with varying learning needs, including SEND where required.
• Encouraging positive behaviour and promoting an inclusive classroom environment.
• Preparing classroom resources and supporting day-to-day classroom organisation.
• Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and a love of learning.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for candidates who:

• Have experience working with children in a school, nursery, childcare or youth setting (desirable but not essential).
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Are patient, caring and enthusiastic about supporting children’s learning.
• Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
• Are proactive, reliable and willing to use their initiative.
• Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or are willing to apply for one.
