About the role:

This Pastoral Co-ordinator role is based in a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Witham. The school is seeking a compassionate and proactive individual to support the welfare, behaviour, attendance and safeguarding of students within a designated year group.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team, pastoral staff, families and external agencies to ensure students feel safe, supported and able to succeed both academically and personally. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about student wellbeing, behaviour support and pastoral care within education.

Your Role:

  • Providing pastoral support to students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups
  • Supporting the wellbeing, safeguarding and emotional development of students across the year group
  • Working alongside teachers and support staff to promote positive behaviour and minimise disruption
  • Monitoring attendance, punctuality and behaviour trends and implementing interventions where required
  • Supporting students with SEND, SEMH needs, EHCPs and other additional needs
  • Acting as a key point of contact for families, external agencies and safeguarding teams
  • Supporting reintegration meetings, behaviour plans and attendance improvement strategies
  • Managing and maintaining accurate records using the school’s management information systems
  • Assisting with behaviour response and de-escalation across the school where necessary
  • Working collaboratively with safeguarding leads, attendance officers and pastoral teams to improve outcomes for students

  • Passionate about supporting students to reach their full potential
  • Calm under pressure with excellent behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Able to think proactively and respond effectively to challenges
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with students, parents and external professionals
  • Organised and confident using data to monitor progress and inform interventions
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting student welfare at all times

Essential requirements:

  • GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting young people and promoting high expectations
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Ability to analyse behaviour and attendance trends and implement support strategies
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS check required

Desirable experience:

  • Previous experience working within a school or educational setting
  • Experience supporting students with SEMH, SEND or behavioural needs
  • Knowledge of attendance, exclusion and safeguarding processes
  • Experience working with external agencies and multi-agency teams
  • IT literacy, including Google Workspace
