Your Role
- Lead the pastoral care, welfare and personal development of a designated year group.
- Build positive relationships with students, acting as a trusted adult who promotes high expectations and positive behaviour.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, behaviour and academic progress, intervening where concerns arise.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, the SEND team, safeguarding leads and senior leaders to provide coordinated support for students.
- Liaise regularly with parents and carers, fostering positive home-school relationships to improve outcomes.
- Support students experiencing social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, anxiety, behavioural challenges, safeguarding concerns and additional learning needs.
- Coordinate interventions and pastoral support plans to help students overcome barriers to learning.
- Promote the school’s values, expectations and behaviour policy while celebrating student success and achievement.
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience working in a pastoral, behaviour, safeguarding, education or youth support role within a secondary school or similar setting.
- A genuine passion for supporting young people and improving their educational experience.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, families and colleagues.
- Calm, resilient and confident when managing challenging situations and supporting vulnerable students.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Experience supporting students with SEMH, Autism (ASC), ADHD, anxiety, trauma, attendance concerns or safeguarding needs is highly desirable.
