This is an ideal opportunity for graduates who are passionate about education and are considering a career in teaching. You’ll work closely with students to raise attainment, build confidence, and help them achieve their academic potential while gaining first-hand experience in a secondary school setting.

The Role

As a Graduate Academic Mentor, you will:

  • Deliver targeted one-to-one and small group interventions in your specialist subject or across the curriculum.
  • Support students who require additional academic guidance to reach their full potential.
  • Help prepare pupils for GCSE examinations through focused revision and study support.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Encourage independent learning, motivation, and confidence.
  • Support teachers during lessons and contribute to a positive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Holds a degree in any subject (English, Maths, Science, Humanities and Psychology graduates are particularly encouraged to apply).
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is passionate about education and supporting young people.
  • Is organised, proactive, and eager to learn.
  • Has experience tutoring, mentoring, coaching, volunteering, or working with young people (desirable but not essential).
  • Is considering teacher training or a long-term career in education.

What’s on Offer

  • Full-time role starting September 2026.
  • Competitive daily pay based on experience.
  • Long-term opportunities with the potential for permanent employment.
  • Comprehensive support and mentoring from experienced teaching professionals.
  • Valuable classroom experience that will strengthen future teacher training applications.
  • Dedicated support from your Engage Education consultant throughout your placement.

Why Choose This Role?

This is more than just a Teaching Assistant position—it’s an opportunity to develop your classroom confidence, understand how outstanding teaching impacts learning, and build the skills needed for a successful career in education.

If you’re looking for a rewarding graduate opportunity where you can make a real difference to students while preparing for your future career, we’d love to hear from you.
